FAQ

Is Iboga safe?

  • When administered by trained Iboga providers, Iboga is entirely safe. These providers undergo rigorous training with a strong emphasis on safety.

Is Iboga right for me?

  • If you seek freedom, genuine healing, and a permanent escape from harmful patterns, you may feel an intuitive pull toward this medicine or desire a novel, distinctive experience.

What if I am scared?

  • Iboga adapts to your unique needs, never overwhelming you. It gently dispels traumas and fears with honesty. During your initial ceremony, you’ll establish a connection with Iboga, learn how to collaborate with it, and build trust—preparing you for a more profound experience in your second ceremony.

How will I feel on Iboga?

  • Iboga induces an altered state, never impairing your ability to move, converse, or maintain awareness of your surroundings. It offers a grounding psychedelic journey, fostering heightened self-awareness and connection to your body, life, and environment.

What is the difference between Iboga and Ibogaine?

  • Iboga is the raw root bark used by the Bwiti for physical healing, spiritual healing, and spiritual discovery.

  • Ibogaine is just one of the fourteen alkaloids that has been singled out and extracted from Iboga. It is used in drug detox facilities under medical supervision because of the potential risks.

  • Ibogaine is a clinical experience supervised by doctors used to treat the body. The doctors often haven’t used Ibogaine themselves.

  • Iboga is used in traditional Bwiti ceremonies lead by spiritual healers who have first hand experience with Iboga. These ceremonies get to the root of your problem to heal your body, mind, and soul.

What is the difference between Iboga and Ayahuasca?

  • Iboga and Ayahuasca are often associated with each other because they are both ancient, indigenous plant medicines, however the two are very different.

  • The Ayahuasca medicine is created by ceremonially combining two plants that grow primarily in the Amazon Rainforest into a drinkable brew or tea.

  • Iboga is simply the root bark of a shrub that grows in West Coast Equatorial Africa. It is ground up and swallowed with some water.

  • Ayahuasca is a female spirit. Iboga is the only plant in the world that houses a twin spirit, both male and female.

  • Ayahuasca has a tendency to be experienced as a psychedelic trip that uses abstract communication to give the user insights.

  • Iboga gives you a grounded, sobering experience with direct communication with your soul and spirit with the ability to ask questions and get direct answers.

Will I purge during the ceremony?

  • Some people need to, some people don’t. About 1/3 of our clients will purge through vomiting or other. You will not be out of control with it, you will always be able to go to the bathroom.

Is there a special diet before Iboga?

  • While there isn’t a strict ‘Iboga Diet,’ prioritizing a clean diet is beneficial. Avoid sugars, coffee, and processed foods. We recommend abstaining from alcohol, smoking, drugs, and most medications for at least 10 days before your arrival. Some drugs may require up to 30 days, or more,of abstinence. During our initial call, we’ll discuss specific requirements in detail.

How do you deal with prescription medication?

  • The first thing Iboga does is detox your body, so you would need to stop using medication that can be extremely dangerous when combined with Iboga. Depending on the drugs half-life this could be a matter of a few days to a few weeks.

  • We will go over your medication and drug intake, and along with a doctor we will discuss your options to discontinue the problematic medications.

  • All psychiatric medications are problematic. They interfere with how your mind works. Iboga will clean your mind and reset it to how it is suppose to be.

How do you deal with recreational drugs?

  • Drugs can be VERY DANGEROUS combined with Iboga. If you show up to a ceremony with drugs in your system, Iboga will fight to get that out of your body and you will be the one taking the heat.

  • For your safety, you MUST be off these drugs for a minimum of 30 days before your Iboga ceremony:

  • Cocaine, amphetamines and ephedrine

  • MDMA (Ecstasy), MDA, MDEA, PMA

  • Opiates (heroin, morphine, codeine, opium)

  • Dextromethorphan (DXM)

  • Mescaline (any phenethylamine)

Will Iboga make me fail a drug test?

  • Absolutely not.

What are the preparation steps?

  • Every guest is required to undergo an electrocardiogram (EKG). You have two options: either get it done at your doctor’s office and share the results with us, or have it performed on-site. Our staff is specifically trained to analyze EKG results relevant to Iboga.

  • Each guest is required to submit a liver panel. Since Iboga is metabolized in the liver, we need to verify that you don’t have any severe undiagnosed liver conditions. Even if your liver is compromised, it wouldn’t automatically disqualify you from the retreat; our providers can prepare Iboga tea, which is metabolized in the stomach.

  •  Each guest will need to fill out a comprehensive health form that covers both physical and mental health. This ensures we’re fully prepared and can provide the healing experience you seek

  • With the guidance of Iboga plant medicine, we assess each guest to tailor our approach. Our diverse range of African plant medicines assists in preparing the path for Iboga, and the spiritual screening reveals which ones may be beneficial for you.

Prior to your Iboga healing session, we advise preparing your body, mind, and soul. Iboga detoxifies, so arriving in a clean state minimizes the initial work it needs to do before embarking on your spiritual discovery—the true transformative journey. Your readiness to engage in this process becomes a testament to your commitment to healing.

Your investment in this journey is significant, and the time you’ve set aside is precious. Now, let’s get serious about what you hope to achieve during your session.

Begin by slowing down your mind. Reduce your screen time—less phone and laptop—and step outside. Listen to the wind rustling leaves in nature.

Consider your session goals and keep a journal. Without clear targets, you’ll have nothing to aim for. If you struggle to identify them, don’t worry—we’re skilled hunters, ready to assist.

Make a commitment to delve deep within, reclaim ownership of your mind, life, and destiny. Prepare yourself to seek truth and break free from whatever holds you back.

Now, let’s talk about the soul. Once you commit to an Iboga session, its spirit begins working with you. Engage in dialogue with your soul, and actively listen when it responds. Remember, this healing is for you alone; you’re both the marble and the sculptor. Be prepared to wield the tools Iboga provides.

Peace
